Unlike its predecessor, the C6, the Nokia C6-01 doesn’t have a slide-out QWERTY keypad, but that’s about the only major refinement to this slim and stylish phone.
Equipped with a Symbian OS and a 3.2inch touchscreen with the latest in AMOLED technology, the C6-01 even collates all your social network feeds into one list on your home screen, making it easy to keep up with all the latest news.
The C6-01 is a very stylish touchscreen featuring a great array of entertainment, messaging and internet features. Running on the latest version of Symbian there have been many upgrades to the interface to bring it into line with the competition (from the likes of Android). One of the biggest updates to the new Symbian has been to make it more socially aware. In keeping with many other operating systems Symbian can now pool information from various social networks onto the phone homescreen, so you can be easily kept up to date with friends and family.
The C6-01 has a lot in common with its namesake, the earlier C6, albeit without the sliding QWERTY keyboard and with an improved camera and operating system. The 3.2" screen features the highest quality AMOLED technology, 16 million colours and capacitive touch sensitivity. This provides excellent room and quality for web surfing and watching videos. The capacitive screen allows for multitouch and features like pinch zooming which make the phone much easier to use.
The C6-01 features a top of the range camera, with 8 megapixels and dual LED flash. This is superb for taking still photographs, which would be desirable enough in itself, but it is also capable of HD video recording. Being able to record video in HD makes a whole world of difference as lower quality videos are almost not worth the effort for some people.
There are many great apps to enjoy with the C6-01 and plenty more which can be downloaded from the Ovi Store. The Symbian structure has been revamped to make it easier for developers to create apps and it is hoped that eventually Symbian will be able to boast a catalogue in the same league as its competitors.
As well as being able to watch HD videos you have copied over or recorded yourself and streaming videos online, you can tune in to some of your favourite TV stations with Web TV. Through this you can watch CNN, BBC, National Geographic and many more channels from the comfort of your own hand.
With a sturdy battery you can listen to music or watch videos for up to 30 hours without needing to recharge. In terms of music and video entertainment, as well as web browsing and messaging features the C6-01 is certainly a hot contender. If you are on the lookout for this phone be sure not to confuse it with the C6, even though that earlier model is a great phone in its own right.
