Specifications
The phone has a nice set of features and most of them are for entertainment purposes although there are a few features which make this phone worth buying for business use such as the email client which allows you to import your Outlook contacts from your PC or laptop. The phone has a 3.2 mega pixel camera which is ideal for snapping shots here and there and it can also record videos. The phone’s media player is amazing and allows you to watch Mpeg 4 movies in seamless and smooth playback. You can also listen to music using this phone and it can play a variety of file formats.
The phone is also equipped with GPS which means you can find your way to just about any location in the world and the a-GPS function means you can follow specific directions to get to your location. The large 3.2 inch screen means you won’t have any trouble seeing where you are or looking at maps on the phone. The phone is entirely touch screen except for a few buttons on the bottom of the phone which are the calling buttons. The phone is also equipped with high speed 3G connections at 3.6 Mbps which means you can surf the web, send emails and download content in a matter of seconds.
Overall, the features of this phone are like a slightly lower end version of the Omnia and a lot of people have been comparing the two phones. In my opinion, they are both great phones but were designed to cater to different markets so it’s useless comparing them. The Eternity was designed for a slightly lower end audience and is going to appeal to a lot of people including business users. I think the Eternity’s features are great and you definitely get your money’s worth with this phone.
Looks
In terms of looks, the Samsung Eternity is a great looking phone and is very similar to the majority of touch screen phones from Samsung. It has a large screen and a sleek and slim line design and is available in Black. The phone measures in at 109mm by 56mm by 13mm so is actually a bit smaller than the Omnia, it also only weighs 110 grams which is definitely lighter than the majority of the smart phones which are available. I think this is down to the phone not having as many features and of course, it doesn’t run a Windows OS, it simply runs TouchWiz which is Samsung’s user interface operating system.
The phone has a really nice look to it and although it would have been nice to see the phone available in more colours I think it looks great in Black so I’m sure people will be happy with it. The design is very this year and I think as a touch screen phone it definitely looks the part of a high quality mobile phone. It may not compare looks wise with some of the recent Samsung or HTC mobile phones but I think it has a nice simple look and feel to it and is very sleek and stylish in terms of the exterior design.
Design
As the phone doesn’t use Windows OS it means that this phone’s user interface is very fast and very responsive. It has a great speed to it and I think a lot of people will be quite impressed as to how quickly it brings up menus etc. I think all the features work very well and I have to say that design wise, in terms of software, this phone has it down. The high quality features are very well designed and the user interface is easy to use. A lot of people have commented on the ease of use when texting due to the larger buttons on screen and I think this is a great asset for this phone.
Overall
All in all, the Samsung Eternity is a great phone and I really like the way it looks and the way it feels to use. The great user interface is likely to be one of its strongest points because a lot of people are getting sick of smart phones being so slow. This phone isn’t what you’d call a smart phone but it does have a lot of the same features available on smart phones and it has the added benefit of running smoothly and quickly between menus and features. In my opinion, this is a great phone and I think a lot of people will love it – it’ll appeal to business users and personal users a like but I’d recommend it to personal users more than business users because of the great entertainment features.
I have to say that this phone has blown me away. When I first saw it, I was thinking “oh great another touch screen phone from Samsung” but this phone is very different. It appears to be a smart phone with a huge set of features but it has the high speed operating system which makes the phone so much easier to enjoy. You can experience the features more quickly and it’s definitely worth the purchase in my opinion. It ticks a lot of boxes and I think a lot of people will be very happy with this phone.
Overall, it’s a great phone and I think the Samsung Eternity is a fabulous specimen of what Samsung are capable of. It has everything you could need as a mid range user and I think the high quality features make it more of a high end phone. The price is just right and I think people saying it’s the “poor man’s Omnia” are about right. It’s a great phone at a great price.
