Samsung Ch@t 350 deals & review

The Ch@t 350 is a slightly more mid-range handset than its sibling Ch@t phones such as the Ch@t 335 and Ch@t 322, which both adopt a BlackBerry style compact QWERTY design. Instead, the Ch@t 350 goes for a full QWERTY slide-out form factor, and additionally comes with a resistive touchscreen display as well. The screen is a bit smaller than most standard touchscreens, measuring a more compact 2.4". This comes with 256k colours and Samsung´s trusty TouchWiz user interface.

As a messaging phone the Ch@t 350 comes with some good messaging features on board. There is support for threaded SMS viewing, MMS messages, push email and various instant messaging clients. There is also a WAP/HTML browser available for web browsing. The Ch@t 350 is let down somewhat by its lack of Wi-Fi or 3G which limits it web activity to GPRS and EDGE connectivity. Despite this limitation the Ch@t 350 still comes with additional online features such as social networking integration for popular online networks such as Facebook and Twitter.

The Ch@t 350 comes with a 2 megapixel camera with QCIF video recording at 15fps, but with limited camera features. For entertainment there is great support for music and video playback and the Ch@t 350 comes with an FM radio with RDS. The great thing about this radio is that allows you to record live radio shows to listen to later. There are also many games to keep you occupied with more available to download. Internal memory is capped at a meagre 20MB but this is expandable to 8GB with microSD cards, which should provide most phone users with ample storage space for personal entertainment. Additionally there is a 3.5mm audio jack that can be used to insert standard headphones when listening to music.

The Ch@t 350 is an excellent little messaging phone that is perhaps only let down in this endeavour by its lack of modern connectivity options. As a touchscreen it is slightly smaller than most that are to be found, but the Ch@t 350 does provide you with the additional benefits provided by the QWERTY keyboard, which is an uncommon feature for a phone of this price range.
