The Samsung E2370 is a simple and tough mobile phone designed for basic communication.

The Design

The round, chunky look of the Samsung E2370 hints at its durability. With a similar design and functionality as the B2100 and B2700, the E2370 has a small screen (under 2 inches) and a plastic casing with an IP54 certification. This certification means the phone is resistant to water, shocks and dust – although unlike the B2100, it is not waterproof and will not work under water.

Black and orange in colour, the Samsung E2370 looks fun as well as tough. The keys are nicely spread out and defined, with a large navigation key sitting between the call and selection keys beneath the screen.

Specifications

 The Samsung E2370 has some pretty good, albeit basic, features onboard. The media player lets you play music and watch videos – taken on the phone’s camera. There is also an FM radio with RDS so you can read information from, as well as listen to, your favourite radio station. The radio lets you record programmes, which is a useful ability and means you need never miss another show again. If you want to keep several radio programmes on the handset, you can expand the memory using a microSD card.

Samsung has added dual speakers to the E2370 to enhance the sound of your music. The microUSB and Bluetooth connections allow you to transfer your tracks from friends’ compatible phones or your PC – although this is not the most powerful handset and transferring files can be a little slow.

The decent size and layout of the keys mean you can type messages with ease. The Samsung E2370 has support for both texts and multimedia messages. So you can take snaps on the inbuilt VGA camera and then share them with friends and family. The camera has none of the features found on the high-end Monte S5620 – including geo-tagging and smile detection – but it is a nice addition nonetheless, especially if you just want a means of capturing fun images on the move and are less concerned about picture quality.

You can play games on your Samsung E2370 to help you stave off boredom during quiet times. The battery is large with an impressive 20 hours talktime and 43 days standby time, so you can take this handset with you on holiday and not worry if you forget the charger. The E2370 is an ideal phone for camping or activities holidays – not only because of its great battery life but because its tough exterior shields it from the elements.

Considerations

There is no support for 3G or Wi-Fi on the Samsung E2370.

The Samsung E2370 is a basic mobile phone with a tough and fun exterior, and simple features including a camera, MMS and a flashlight on its top – ideal if you want a handset for a small price and for straightforward calling and texting.
