Described by Samsung as “magical”, the Galaxy M Pro might not be a superphone, but it’s packing enough power and features to keep most users more than happy.
Running on Android’s 2.3 OS, the Galaxy M Pro comes with a full QWERTY keypad to speed up the composition of texts and emails. It even comes with an impressive 5MP camera to capture memories on the go. The only quibble you might have is with the M Pro’s rather small 2.7inch screen.
The Galaxy M Pro is one of the first new Android smartphones to make use of Samsung´s new naming convention. Under this naming convention the "M" signifies a midrange phone while the "Pro" means that it comes with a physical keyboard. The keyboard comes in the form of a BlackBerry style messaging keyboard that is ideal for using features like social networking and instant messaging, as well as SMS and email.
Running on Android Gingerbread the Galaxy M Pro also makes use of the TouchWiz interface. It has a smaller 2.7 inch touchscreen display to compensate for the physical keyboard included on its front face which can be used as an additional means of operating the interface as well as using apps and games. Both of the latter are available from Android Market which comes included, as well as many other preinstalled apps.
Being in the midrange the Galaxy M Pro has some decent hardware power under its wing including a 1GHz processor. The phone also has excellent 3G and Wi-Fi support and can also be used as a Wi-Fi hotspot. These connectivity options are ideal for using all of the excellent messaging features on board, including instant messaging and social networks like Facebook and Twitter which can be combined into one easy to manage system with Samsung Social Hub.
The Galaxy M Pro has a decent 5 megapixel camera that includes an LED flash, face detection and video recording support. There is also a secondary front facing VGA camera so that you can make use of video messaging and video chat services as well. For entertainment the Galaxy M Pro includes good support for music and video, has YouTube support and also includes an FM radio.
In addition to the touch sensitive screen and the physical keyboard the Galaxy M Pro comes with an optical trackpad which can be used for navigation. The phone is ideal for people who are used to using BlackBerry phones and want to give Android a go, or more hardened Android users who want an excellent messaging phone. The Galaxy M Pro provides a good combination of messaging and entertainment features as well.
