Samsung Monte Bar C3200 deals

It´s nice to know mobile phone giants will never forget about the budget conscious crowds who want nothing more than no nonsense mobile phones that do the tasks for which they were meant to do – as communications devices on the road.

Never mind the camera even when rigged with the kind that first appeared 10 years ago, or can’t do high speed surfing since no one will miss the internet on a 2-inch display. SatNav GPS can go as the market that can only afford a basic phone will just ask for directions.

Good thing there are mobile phones for this market like the new Samsung Monte Bar C3200. It has a superficial cosmetic ergonomic heritage from the feature-rich Monte S5620 but other than that and a DNSe audio enhancing feature, there’s nothing to tie it up as a lite or mini version of the Monte marque.

But on its own, the C3200 is one capable handset without any pretense to social networking or internet access and goes back to basics with just a few frills stripped to their barest minimum as the market has come to expect them on even budget phones.

No Nonsense Features at a Glance

Sporting a conventional candybar form factor, the Monte Bar is a quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850/900/1800/1900) so you can still use it when roaming internationally on the 2G network. Don’t expect 3G or WiFi as Samsung pitches this on a wider market that won’t really bother with expensive data plans. It comes with a microUSB 2.0 and Bluetooth 2.1 for wired and wireless local data transfers, respectively.

Its 111.8 x 46.9 x 13.3 mm elegantly styled body accommodates just 2-inch TFT LCD display with QVGA resolution and 256k colors. Its digicam features a 2 megapixel resolution with fixed focus and a QCIF video recording at 15fps.

Entertainment comes from playback of popular audio and video files, stereo FM receiver with RDS and FM recording and Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP for wireless stereo headsets and a 3.5mm headphone jack for wired regular headsets. Audio quality can be enhanced using its DNSe (Dynamic Natural Sound engine) for stereo widening or surround sound.

The Samsung Monte Bar C3200 gets a 40 MB internal memory with up to 1,000 phonebook entries as well as microSD expandability for up to 8 GB. Its 960 mAh li-ion battery yields up to 8.3 hours of talk time and up to 500 hours of standby time on a single charge.

Amidst all the high profile flamboyancy and technological shenanigans at this year's Mobile World Congress are the phones that don't quite get as much attention, and undeservedly so as they are the phones that most people will probably end up going for.
