The Samsung Monte Slider E2550 is a phone which meets all your basic mobile communication needs as well as your budget.

The Design

Launched around the same time as its more powerful sibling – the Samsung Monte S5620 – the Samsung Monte Slider E2550 hardly resembles the S5620 internally or externally. However, elements of the styling are along the same lines. For example, the E2550 has a glossy back and the call keys beneath the screen are angular in design.

The 2 inch screen has a clear display and all the icons are nicely defined. Taller, wider and the same depth as the Samsung Shark 3 handset, the Samsung Monte Slider E2550 is a good size for holding comfortably in the one hand. The phone feels solid and the slide-down keypad is logically arranged for easy typing.

Specifications

Created to be an affordable slider phone, the Samsung Monte Slider E2550 still houses a good media player. The 1.3-megapixel camera has no enhancements to boost your photography results – but it does mean you can happily point and press to capture moments on the move. The video option is equally basic but for shooting fun footage it is sufficient, and you can watch it back via the media player or share it with friends using the Bluetooth connection. Aurally, you can save songs to your phone’s MP3 player or tune into the FM radio onboard. You can record from the radio too onto your handset, saving your preferred programme until a suitable time – and the meagre 12MB internal memory can be increased to up to 8GB via a microSD card so you can store a number of songs and radio clips on your phone.  

The inbuilt Digital Natural Sound Engine (DNSe) technology enhances the sound of your music as well as the quality of your calls. With a battery that supports up to 6 hours of talktime or 16 days on standby, the Samsung Monte Slider E2550 is a reliable phone for when a charger is not easily accessible. Unlike many smartphones – such as the iPhone 3G S and Motorola Milestone – which need charging daily, the E2550 will easily last a few days between charges.

The web browser means you can find information online on your phone. If you enjoy mobile social networking, you’ll like the one-press access that the Samsung Monte Slider E2550’s pre-installed Facebook app provides. There are also games onboard to keep you entertained as you go about your day.
