Samsung Omnia HD i8910 deals & review

With a June release date, the Samsung Omnia HD is set to revolutionise video and media capture in mobile phones. With an 8MP camera capable of capturing (although not displaying) HD quality video, Samsung have certainly made a big step forward with this successor to the Omnia i900.

Although the huge AMOLED display, easily competing with the Cowon S9, cannot actually display HD quality video, the phone will be supplied with an HD lead to plug into HD TVs allowing the true quality of the video recorder to be seen in all its glory.

The Omnia HD runs on the S60 symbian platform but Samsung have tied that TouchWiz interface and widgets in with it to create a user interface capable of competing with Windows Mobile and enabling it run such programs as iTunes Plus Downloads. The Omnia HD also has GPS, both in-car and pedestrian versions, in turn allowing Geotagging of photographs.

With the increasing demand for budget HD video cameras, it was only a matter of time before one was put in to a phone and although the Samsung Omnia HD is a media giant of a phone, it also possesses a serious side with Email pushing through Microsoft Sync and exchange, and personal information management tools. Its amazing display and huge memory are perfect for both business and pleasure and with beautiful styling, will never be an embarrassment. Although the screen does not have quite the same responsiveness as the iPhone but it´s amazing technical abilities and style certainly keep it on a very even playing field.
