The Omnia W is one of Samsung’s first forays into the new Mango OS, making it a rather interesting little number.
Armed with a powerful 1.4GHz processor, Windows 7 Mango OS and speedy 3G connectivity, this smartphone has more than enough ammunition to make web browsing a breeze. Especially when you take into account its impressive 3.7 inch super AMOLED screen, perfect for full HTML browsing on your pre-loaded Internet Explorer 9.
The Omnia W is the first Windows Phone from Samsung to make use of the Mango update. It comes with a large 3.7 inch Super AMOLED screen and excellent social networking features with People Hub. It has a great deal of entertainment value as well as professional features, and thanks to the Mango update it is one of the first Windows Phones to feature a front facing camera.
Powered by a 1.4GHz processor the Omnia W runs on Windows Phone 7 Mango. High speed 3G connections are on offer along with DLNA enabled Wi-Fi allowing for some excellent online features. This includes full web browsing thanks to the large screen and Explorer 9 as well as instant messaging with built in Windows Live support. The Omnia W also comes with integrated social networking with Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
With the Samsung AllShare app you can easily share pictures, music and videos to a computer, TV or network hub over a wireless network and the Mango update also provides the Omnia W with cloud support thanks to Windows Live Sky Drive. Here you can store music, videos or documents in "the cloud" and access them from your Omnia W or another device. The Omnia W also comes with support for Near Field Communications, allowing you to use mobile payment services.
The Omnia W provides plenty of entertainment value with excellent music and video support through Zune and lots of social gaming fun from Xbox LIVE. With access to Windows Marketplace you can also pick up plenty of apps and games to enjoy on the Omnia W. The Omnia W comes with 8GB of internal storage space and 25GB free space available through the Sky Drive cloud service.
The Omnia W has a 5 megapixel camera and LED flash with 720p video recording. Video calling is a feature that has only become supported in Windows Phone with the Mango update, and so the Omnia W is one of the first Windows Phones to come with a front facing camera and support for video calls. The front facing camera can record videos in VGA.
The Omnia W is the follow up to the earlier Samsung Omnia 7 and is a fairly similar device. It does however come with a smaller screen and a slimmer form factor, making it a more pocket friendly device than Samsung´s earlier Windows Phone offering. The Omnia W obviously comes with all the usual Windows Phone goodies, including excellent MS Office support, Xbox Live and Zune but unlike earlier Windows Phones also supports video calling.
