Sony Ericsson Jalou deals on contract

Sony Ericsson Jalou deals

The Sony Ericsson Jalou goes to market as a feature-rich fashion accessory for a mobile phone that is sure to turn heads with a choice of three jewel colors: Deep Amethyst, Aquamarine Blue and Onyx Black. When closed, its clamshell body form factor measures a compact 73 x 45 x 19.2mm and weighs a purse-friendly 84g.

While not really a GreenHeart phones, it gets preloaded with the WalkMate pedometer found in all its eco-friendly handsets. Its homescreen changes with the zodiac signs and special events of the year and as socially aware handset, it comes with integrated SNS apps as well as Google apps. It’s so pretty, Italian fashion house Dolce & Gabbana has dressed it up with a version clad in 240k gold trim.

Features at a Glance

Beneath its fashion clamshell aesthetics, the Jalou is a 3G feature phone on single band UMTS (2100) radio with HSDPA speeds of 3.6 Mbps for high speed internet and social networking activities online. It is also quad band GSM with class 10 GPRS/EDGE on the 2G network. There’s no WiFi but you get Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP and miniUSB 2.0 for local high speed data transfers.

Its display may strike one as just average at a mere 2” QVGA TFT LCD with 256k colors but it gets an edge outshining all other fashion phones as the screen becomes a compact vanity mirror with a dedicated switch to flick between the two modes so the ladies can check up on their looks from time to time.

It also gets an accelerometer for auto rotate viewing convenience. When the clamshell is closed, you get information and alerts from its secondary external monochromatic 1.3” display with 128 x 36 resolution.

Imaging gets a conventional 3.2 megapixel fixed focus shooter with a modest QVGA vide recording at 15fps and video light. Multimedia benefits from its Walkman pedigree with a superb MP3 player with TrackID, stereo FM radio with RDS and a video playback support for MP4, WMV and H.263 video codecs. It does not have the industry standard 3.5mm headphone jack but you get A2DP profile support on Bluetooth for wireless stereo listening.

The Sony Ericsson Jalou gets a decent 100 MB memory onboard with microSD slot support for external memory expansion up to 8 GB. You get up to 7 hours of talk time and 350 hours in standby mode from its li-ion battery when fully charged.
