It might be smaller than most Xperia handsets, but the Ray is packed with features. The 3.3 inch screen comes with WVGA resolution, creating a vibrant and beautiful display. Sony’s Mobile BRAVIA engine also means photos and videos look amazing, and you can take your own with the 8-megapixel camera.
All of this, and the Ray offers 3G, wi-fi and social network integration. It’s compact yet functional, and available in a range of colours. What more could you want?
The Xperia Ray is another addition to Sony Ericsson´s rapidly expanding Xperia range of Android phones has a look and feel very similar to that of other Xperia handsets. However, the Ray is a little smaller than high end Sony Ericsson phones like the Arc, and is placed somewhere in between the Arc and the Xperia mini phones in terms of size. Xperia Ray deals will be on offer from most major networks.
This offers a good compromise between a comfortable and roomy screen to touch and play with and having a more comfortably sized handset to use as a phone. The screen is just 3.3" in measurement yet still comes with a WVGA resolution like the larger screened Arc, meaning that the Ray actually offers much more detail in the visual department. This screen is an LED backlit LCD screen that is very bright and vibrant and great for all forms of visual touchscreen features.
Like the Arc, the Xperia Ray uses Sony´s Mobile BRAVIA engine for superior quality with photos and videos and also comes with Timescape for a more integrated messaging and social networking interface. For social networking there is Facebook, Twitter and YouTube support as well as access to Android Market where plenty of games and apps are on offer.
The Ray runs on Android Gingerbread and is powered by a 1GHz CPU with 512MB RAM. Like a lot of Sony Ericsson phones the Ray comes with some excellent entertainment features on board including great playback for music and video, YouTube and streaming online video support thanks to Flash inclusion, TrackID and SenseMe and also an FM radio.
Connectivity is pretty decent with 3G and Wi-Fi on offer, including DLNA. The Ray also has an excellent 8 megapixel camera that includes 720p video recording, LED flash and a secondary camera as well for video calls.
The Xperia Ray is like an ever so slightly downgraded Arc. It is a smaller device while at the same time offering an almost comparable level of features and hardware. The Ray is available in a choice of four colours including Black, White, Gold and Pink.
