The Vodafone 945 is a budget touchscreen device released by Vodafone alongside the 553 and the 543 Miss Sixty. The 945 is the more feature rich of the three phones, but like the other two handsets, still falls into the affordable handset market. The 945 is itself a follow on from Vodafone´s earlier 845 which pioneered the concept of bringing Android to a lower price bracket.
The 945 runs on Google Android 2.1, which is only a slight step down from the latest Froyo edition. With this you get access to Android Market and all the other great features to come with Google´s OS. The 3.2" capacitive screen comes with support for multitouch input and has a nice resolution of 240 x 400 and 256k colour depth for a sharp picture quality. An accelerometer is included so that you can easily rotate the interface by moving the phone.
Unlike the other two Vodafone handsets released with it, the 945 comes with 3G and Wi-Fi support included. This provides much easier and speedier web access than just GPRS and EDGE (which are still present on the 945). Also included are Bluetooth and microUSB to help you more easily transfer files to and from the phone.
The Android OS provides an excellent messaging experience, with support for MMS and threaded SMS messages, as well as email and instant messaging. It also makes web browsing a breeze with quick access to all your favourite sites. The 945 comes with a 5 megapixel camera included, with LED flash and video recording support. As well as this there is a secondary camera on the front which can be used for making video calls.
The 945 is a far superior phone to the 553 and 543 Miss Sixty, released at the same time. It still manages to remain within the affordable handset range despite coming with capacitive touch screen and a fairly recent version of Google Android. It may not be as feature rich as some smartphones on the market but for a cheap touchscreen Android you can´t go wrong.
