The successor to the Galaxy S, the Samsung Galaxy S II, was a huge hit at MWC this year, garnering acclaim from critics and fans alike. Unfortunately, though, a firm UK release date for the handset has been somewhat elusive so far. Today we’ve definitely taken a step in the right direction, though, with online retailer mobiles.co.uk adding a pre-order page for the Galaxy S II to their site. The S II is available through mobiles.co.uk on both Orange and Vodafone, and is available for free on contracts starting at £35 per month.

But the best is yet to come. Though the pre-order page makes no direct reference to the release date for the phone, a trusted source within mobiles.co.uk has confirmed to us that they will have the Samsung Galaxy S II in stock from the “2nd week of April”, adding “Hopefully, it will be sooner”. So with a little luck we should see the Galaxy S II in stock and available from the 11th of April and with a little more luck, it’ll be sooner still. We’ll keep you posted when we hear more!
